Songs, stories, scenes
Praise of despair
Harald Hahn and David Fuhr, Berlin
Variety show with songs by Theodor Kramer.
Two voices, one grand piano, bandoneon, guitar, a suitcase, a hat ... and the poems of the Austrian poet Theodor Kramer, socialist and Jew, who was forced into exile in England in 1939.
Through drunken behaviour, melancholy and longing, the show is an exuberant display of song, recital, theater and clowning. The subject matter is sobering, however, dealing with persecution, exile, resistance, and intense living.
